At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft is a novel that takes place in the Mountains of the Himalayas. The story is written in first person perspective by the geologist William Dyer, a professor at Miskatonic University. On a previous expedition to America, a party of scholars from the university discovered horrific ruins and a dangerous secret beyond a range of mountains. The group that discovered and crossed the mountains found the remains of 14 ancient life forms, but the problem is that the remains are unknown to scientists, which makes the geologists intrigued. The story takes off from there and looks extremely interesting to read because of the topic and because we don't know what to expect next.
This is a book that I’ve been interested in for awhile. Since this book pertains to the high mountains of the Himalayas and possible horrific secrets that lie in them, I am extremely interested. I have seen many movies that are like this where people go explore someplace they have never been before and at the end they wind up going missing. Reading a book like this that I personally find the topic interesting will now provoke me to read more. The characters are scientists who examine difference types of specimen. This book was also recommended by many experts and was has gotten great reviews. Not only is the setting interesting but the science part of the book. I’ve always been interested in science fiction novels and this book is the perfect choice, and hopefully will be full of conversation at the book meetings.
